Project Updates
January 2026
The project is in the early design stages, so proposals for the layout are currently being developed while the technical design is progressed to ensure that the necessary networks and infrastructure are provided behind the scenes to support the landscape designs.
December 2025
Several workshops have taken place to modify the existing layout to enhance the access of trucks, including a communication totem for delivery trucks with the guard present at entrance D on the CERN Meyrin site.
June 2025
A Due Diligence report is prepared by SCE to investigate the possibilities, site constraints, and technical requirements involved in refurbishing the entrance. The report will be reviewed by the relevant stakeholders.
A Welcoming Gateway to CERN
The main entrance to the Prévessin site will be transformed into a secure, welcoming, and environmentally friendly gateway that promotes soft mobility options such as walking and cycling, adds greenery, and enhances the visibility and identity of the site. This initiative aligns with several ongoing developments on the Prévessin site, including the construction of Building 777 with the new Restaurant 3, to improve security, accessibility, operational efficiency, and the overall attractiveness of the site.
Inspired by Nature
The new Prévessin entrance aims primarily to create a seamless connection between the public and private spaces through the integration of vegetation and soft mobility, while simultaneously enhancing security. The proposed landscape design draws inspiration from organic lines, extending the natural flow of the Building 777 surroundings by incorporating curved forms and permeable materials. The new greenery planted on both sides of the entrance not only frames the access point but also extends the continuity of the green corridor that traverses the site.
