You will of course have heard of SAM-TG’s work on maps, but don’t think that they just create highly specialized and advanced technical plans.
They push GIS developments even further!
Charlotte Desponds, closely working with IT-CDS, recently developed a new feature to help finding a book in the premises of the refurbished Library.
After having drawn each of the shelves into the floor map of the library, an integration with MapCERN has been implemented allowing users to locate any book they look for. After selecting their book in the catalogue, they just have to click on the “Find it on shelf” button to get MapCERN opening with the book location and additional information.
An example is visible on the following link: https://catalogue.library.cern/literature/e8413-qaj46
Congratulations to the team for their definitely creative and innovative solutions!
