1. Introduction
The picnic area (9401-R-000) is exclusively reserved for official CERN social events at the following times:
- Working days: lunchtimes from 10.00 am to 3.59 pm or evenings from 4.00 pm to 11.00 pm, from mid-April to mid-October;
- Weekends and holidays: users are allowed to book the two time slots for the same event (each slot has to be reserved separately).
2. Procedure
This area can be booked as a conference room through the Conference room booking system by selecting the space 9401-R-000: https://indico.cern.ch/rooms/room/CERN/274/.
For bookings for weekends and holidays, the person wishing to book the area must provide the following services with a list of names of all the participants:
- the CERN Fire Brigade: tel. 74848, Fire.Brigade@cern.ch;
- the access surveillance centre : tel. 78877, Access.Surveillance@cern.ch;

3. Conditions of use
The person who booked the picnic area must be present on the day of the event and shall present his/her CERN access card to the security service, if requested to do so.
In the event of a fire or accidents involving bodily injury, the Fire Brigade must be called on 74444.
An inspection of the picnic area will be made after the event:
- for lunchtime bookings on working days, the inspection will be made jointly by M. Fontaine or a member of the GS-SE Group and the person who made the booking by 4.00 p.m. at the latest;
- for evening bookings and bookings on weekends or holidays, the inspection will be made jointly by the security service and the person who made the booking by 11.00 p.m. at the latest.
Vehicles must be parked in the dedicated car-park and under no circumstances on the grass.
The tap is provided exclusively for the purpose of cooling drinks (the use of cleaning products is forbidden).
All barbecue equipment and furniture must be left clean and tidy after use.
All rubbish must be disposed of in the bins provided on the car-park.
After 10.00 p.m., noise levels must be lowered to avoid disturbing the neighbourhood, in line with French law.
Dogs and other pets are strictly forbidden on the picnic area.
Fireworks of all kind are strictly forbidden.
Upon leaving, users must switch off all lights (including those in the sanitary facilities) and ensure the refrigerator is properly closed.
Malfunctions or damage must be reported to the GS-SE Group (M. Fontaine 169834) or to the security service outside CERN working hours (78877).
Anyone using the picnic area without having made a prior booking will be asked to leave by the security service.
Please remember that the picnic area is available free of charge, subject to prior booking. To ensure that we will all be able to use this area with pleasure and in comfort for many years to come, please treat it with respect. |
