The Società Italiana di Fisica (SIF) or Italian Physical Society was founded in 1897 and is a non-profit organization whose aim is to promote, encourage, protect the study and the progress of physics in Italy and in the world.
The SIF has always followed very closely the developments and results from CERN Experiments and has published many papers on our Organization. The publication of the 2040 Masterplan has obviously catch their attention since the document presents how CERN evolves in response to the needs of the physics community and how it manages its development in a responsible and sustainable way.
“The Masterplan is a strategic planning document and, while it is intended only as a guide, it plays a key role because it lays the foundation upon which CERN will base its future development. (…) It will set out the concrete aims and measures that will, hopefully, enable CERN to fulfil its objective of developing its scientific facilities in harmony with both the landscape and the environment by 2040.”

The media attention resulting from the elaboration of this plan reveals the nature and the impact of extreme importance that it will have for the development of CERN. You can follow this link to read the full article.
