The Civil Engineering Business Forum was the first industry thematic event organised on a hybrid mode allowing for on-site and virtual attendance and was dedicated to communicating the forthcoming projects in the period 2023-2025 and the way the civil engineering projects are run at CERN. With this event, CERN aimed to develop relationships with new contractors and increase engagement for the complete range of construction projects tendered by CERN, and in particular for small to medium size projects (up to ~10 MCHF).

Our DH, Mar Capeans, introduced the Campus Strategy at CERN and the technical presentations were well presented by our colleagues, Zacharie Antoine Arenas, Luz Anastasia Lopez-Hernandez, Pieter Mattelaer, Denis Pazem and Guillaume Fernand Rouge. The presentations referred to various subjects, such as the forthcoming Civil Engineering and building projects, the recurrent needs and the consolidation programs (site buildings and underground structures), some illustrative examples were shown as well. An introduction and guidelines to procurement rules and contracts were also presented by IPT colleagues.

92 companies participated in the event. In particular, 48 companies came on site with a majority of local FR (14) and CH (20), and 44 companies participated virtually. 12 countries were represented and 50 on-site-one-to-one meetings between companies and CERN representatives took place. For the visits, 14 companies participated to the tertiary buildings circuit and 18 companies to the industrial buildings circuit.
