Events, conference, financial incentives, stands and workshops: enjoy a whole week exploring other mobility solutions.

Why a Mobility Week?

A week to reduce our footprint, test new solutions, and transform our mobility habits together.
As a leading scientific organisation, CERN has a duty to contribute addressing environmental challenges. Improving individual and professional mobility is part of it. The CERN Mobility Week turns this ambition into concrete actions, accessible to everyone.

Just like in a research laboratory, the goal is to explore, test, and compare. For a few days, CERN becomes a full-scale testing ground, where everyone can try out transport alternatives—electric bikes, carpooling, reinforced shuttle services, subsidized public transport ticket—and directly experience their impact on daily life.

Encouraging the transition

Changing habits is not always easy. That is why Mobility Week combines financial incentives, practical workshops, and collective activities to support the transition. The aim is to lower the barriers to trying new solutions and to give everyone the opportunity to find options suited to their journeys and constraints.

Mobility is not only an individual matter—it is a collective lever. Each choice of alternative transport contributes to a shared goal of sustainability and environmental responsibility. At CERN, where international cooperation is the norm, this is also about showing that the same principle can apply to the way we move.

An annual event

This first edition, organized from 15 to 19 September 2025, is the start of a recurring series of events: March 2026, September 2026, and March 2027. Mobility Week will thus become a key moment in CERN’s institutional calendar, renewing each year the Organization’s commitment to more sustainable and exemplary mobility.
