Environmental Awarness

The event brought together some of the CERN departments heads and HSE experts: Benoît Delille (HSE), Christopher Hartley (IPT), Enrica Porcari (IT) and Mar Capeans who was giving a talk on environmental initiatives linked to the Campus development.

Among the presentations made at this meeting was an overview of the energy management accomplishments of IT department and its efforts to reduce energy footprint. The new Prévessin Computing Center (PCC) has been presented as an innovative and promising solution to provide sufficient capacity for the processing of data generated by CERN experiments, the IT department as well as the ongoing HL-LHC upgrades, while containing energy consumption and negative environmental impact. This PCC project is conducted by our colleagues from PPM group.
