ACCU

The Advisory Committee of CERN Users (ACCU) is a forum for discussion between the CERN Management and the representatives of CERN Users to review the practical means taken by CERN for the work of Users of the Laboratory..

On 11 March 2025, our SCE representative, Frederic Magnin, delivered a summary of SCE Services in 2024. He explained that 680,000+ meals were served, on-site vending machines increased by 25%,  a record-breaking occupancy in hotels and apartments peaking at 95% in July, with a balanced mix of web-based and direct bookings despite a 30% room booking cancellation rate.

Mobility services also experienced substantial growth, with significant increase in car-sharing users, a 10% rise in shuttle service users, an increase in e-bike sharing, and in overall bike usage. Mobility pursues its objectives of sustainability with the installation of 15 new electric charging stations, 1,135 additional bicycle parking spots and 15 more CERN e-bikes introduced.

This ACCU meeting was also an opportunity to highlight site development progress and announce future constructions, installations and major renovations such as refurbishment of the kitchen in R2, future opening of a minimarket in the main building, or the new shuttle service contract featuring a fully electric fleet.

These developments underscore SCE’s commitment to continuous service improvement, sustainability, and enhancing the user experience.
