The heating of buildings in Meyrin and Prévessin sites is usually turned on from 1 October to 15 May depending on the weather.

This year, given the current context relating to the energy crisis, it has been decided to exceptionally start the heating system a little later, not before 10 October. The optimal start date will be decided based on the weather forecast and more importantly the temperature during the night. We encourage everybody on site to avoid switching on individual electrical heaters, which would cancel out the objective of this exceptional measure: to ensure we save energy at CERN.

An environmentally responsible culture, especially with regard to energy management, is a key priority for CERN. We seek to achieve the best possible balance between saving resources and ensuring optimal working conditions for all of us.
